Our amazing catering teams are smashing it at the moment!
The menus are bespoke to each school and the children are encouraged to contribute their ideas for new menu ideas.
Food is produced using seasonal and fresh ingredients and as you can see from the photos the catering teams take enormous pride in the food they produce and how it is presented.

Maple View Welcome Two New Furry Friends

We welcomed two lovely new faces to Maple View this week: the guinea pigs Cookie and Crumble. Learning how to handle and feed them is going to be a new experience for all of our children, and for some of the staff team too!

Young people get moving for this months Bladon Mile!

The young people from Woodlands House chose a Disney fancy dress theme. Running slots were staggered to ensure social distancing. Despite a wet and cold start they had a great turn out and the weather improved quickly.
The Bladon Mile is an adaption of the hugely popular Saturday morning park run. It was developed to take place on the school site as some of the young people found the weekly events across the country too busy and the distance of 5km a little too far.

Staffordshire by the Sea!

If we can’t go to the seaside, we’ll bring the seaside to Staffordshire!
Children in Woodview have been wanting to go to the beach so the staff decided to bring the beach to Bladon House School. They enjoyed sunbathing on the beach, paddling in the sea and fish chips by the sea front.

Brightening his Mums Day

SENAD Community service user, A, asked support staff if they would take him to his family home to say hello to his parents from a safe distance in the garden.  This was first time he had visited since the lockdown started.

While he was there he noticed that the planters had not been done this year as his mum, who works for the health service had been too busy to do it. A wanted to do something to make life a little brighter for his parents so he decided that he would do the planters.  He went to the local farm shop and picked the plants and compost and then planted them in the front garden, ready for his mum to see when she had finished work. She was over the moon with them.

Orchard End VE Day Celebrations

The residents at Orchard End had a lovely time celebrating VE day. They made their own decorations, listened to music and watched films from the 1940’s and enjoyed a cream tea party out on the veranda in the beautiful weather. Very sophisticated!

Meet Teddy, Our School Dog!

Teddy is our school dog.
Dogs can provide comfort and support and help reduce stress. They can also improve social, cognitive and emotional functioning; all of which will be of benefit to our children. Teddy will be in school for the children, for a variety of reasons:
🍁To visit as a treat
🍁To play with
🍁To take for walks – to encourage physical activity and coordination.
🍁To cuddle if upset
🍁To support children to overcome their fear of dogs
🍁To read with
🍁Staff members can also request time with her!

Pictured is Amanda, Head teacher, with Teddy sat in front of our lovely Maple tree.

Bladon Students Mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day In Style

VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, marks the day towards the end of World War Two when fighting against Nazi Germany came to an end in Europe. Students at Bladon House School got into the spirit of the celebration and joined in a rendition of ‘We’ll meet again’, as well as posting birthday cards to Colonel Tom Moore.
