This week, members of the SENAD Head Office team spent time at Rowden House School working with pupils from the newsletter group, supporting them during an introductory session to Canva.
The group meets regularly to develop practical and creative skills, and this session focused on helping pupils explore the basics of digital design. Pupils were introduced to creating simple layouts, adding text and images, and thinking about how content can be structured clearly for a newsletter. Throughout the session, pupils showed enthusiasm and curiosity, and were keen to experiment with the tools they were using.

Sessions like this form part of Rowden House School’s wider approach to supporting pupils in a structured and encouraging environment, where independence and creativity are nurtured. By taking part in activities linked to real outcomes, pupils are able to build skills that feel meaningful and achievable.
It was particularly encouraging to see how engaged the pupils were and how proud they felt of what they had produced by the end of the session. The skills introduced will now be built upon in future newsletter group meetings, giving pupils the opportunity to continue developing their ideas and contribute to upcoming editions.
