Exploring World Cultures: Chinese New Year at Pegasus School

This month, our young people enjoyed our Chinese New Year celebrations. With 2026 marking the Year of the Horse, we brought this theme to life by welcoming a group of therapy horses into our classrooms and outdoor spaces. The visit was an exciting opportunity for our students to connect with animals.

Pegasus School places great emphasis on outdoor learning, sensory experiences and animal care, recognising their importance in developing confidence, independence and emotional regulation. Our young people regularly engage with animals as part of their personalised pathways.

Our Chinese New Year horse‑themed club made the most of this approach. Pupils enjoyed stroking the horses, brushing their coats and even plaiting their manes! Outdoors, the young people led the horses around our garden.

Pegasus School is set within a rural environment with access to open land and school animals, making it the perfect setting for therapeutic and educational activities like this. As always, our dedicated multi‑disciplinary staff team ensured that each young person could engage in a way that suited their individual communication, sensory and developmental needs.
