Over the past couple of weeks, lots of our students have been getting out and about in our local area – often in spite of the wet weather we’ve been experiencing of late! Students have been exploring what their local areas have to offer and getting to know our local surroundings.
We’ve had a group of students who’ve been into Duffield to take part in what’s now a thriving event in the town – the Scarecrow Festival. We also know that we have a group of students in our Primary department who are working on their own top-secret entry for our very own Alderwasley Village Scarecrow Festival early next month!!
Taking advantage of the wet weather, we’ve also had a group of students who have worked on the creation of waterproof shelters in Shining Cliff Woods (right on our door step at Lower Site) Whoknew that the rainy season in Derbyshire could be so popular?
A group of students at Upper Site have been extremely productive recently in heading off to Matlock Town Hall to register themselves for their own Gold Cards. These travel, discount and library cards allows our students to have free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. They’re an extremely useful card to have, enabling our students to practice their independent travel skills and move around our country without extra cost. The group that visited Matlock to apply for their new cards were tasked with completing the application form independently.
