Head Teacher and Care Manager appointed at State of Art Autism School

Edgewood School in Lingswood Park, Northampton is a new ambitious and caring independent specialist day and residential school for young people aged 7 to 16. The SENAD Group, who operate the school, are pleased to announce that the schools Head Teacher and Head of Care are now in post.

Sasha Lees, Head Teacher joins the Group from a community special school in Northampton for children who have a wide range of SEND. Sasha is passionate about ‘the whole child’ and the connection between education, care and family.

Amy Thame is the schools Head of Care. She has worked as part of the SENAD Group team since 2015 and has extensive experience in education, residential leadership and training. Amy is focused on creating an inclusive safe and nurturing community where children and young people are given every opportunity possible to develop the skills for a successful independent life.

The school, which has undergoing major building and renovation work, is due to open in a few months’ time and will work with school and young people with a range and complexity of needs including Autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, speech, language and communication difficulties.

The school will have 26 places, 14 for day students and 12 for children needing residential placements. All classes will be small with a high staff to pupil ratio and the school will offer a broad curriculum designed to meet the very individual needs of each pupil and supported by a range of therapeutic programmes.

SENAD Safeguarding Conference 2023

Being at the forefront of best practice is vitally important to us all at the SENAD Group. Yesterday Senior Leaders across both our Children’s and Adult services attended the SENAD Safeguarding Conference 2023. Thank you to our speakers for sharing their experience and expertise with us all. Carolyn Eyre – Eyre Safeguarding Solutions, Sara Alston – SEA inclusion & Safeguarding, Dean Coady OBE – Urban Pure Solutions. Thank you to our own IT experts, Andy Doughty and Neil Owen for also sharing information on new online safeguarding systems.

SENAD Group to Open New Specialist School – Northamptonshire

Edgewood School will be the newest and latest edition to the SENAD Group portfolio. Currently undergoing major building and renovation work, our site in Lingswood Park, Northampton will become a vibrant, ambitious and caring independent day and residential school for young people aged 7 up to 18 years old.

Opening in Autumn 2023, the school will be able to accommodate up to 26 pupils, first starting with day placements (14) and then after completion of the children’s home development, reaching up to 12 residential placements (38 and 52 week). Pupils who attend will have an EHCP and experience a range of special educational needs including: Autism, moderate to severe learning disabilities, speech, language and communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.

All classes will be small with a high staff to pupil ratio and the school will offer a broad curriculum designed to meet the very individual needs of each pupil and supported by a range of therapeutic programmes.
