What a glorious day for Forest School this March! Today we learnt about frog spawn, tadpoles and frogs! Some children were also very interested in the construction site and devised a 100-hour working week! I can tell you, none of us are swapping jobs on those terms!
Bladon House School was delighted to welcome local author, Steve Smallman to visit the school. Steve has written and illustrated over 100 books, including ‘Poo in the Zoo’ and ‘The Monkey with the bright Blue Bottom’. Steve read to the young people in assembly and you could have heard a pin drop! The young people enjoyed workshops with Steve, where new characters were created, as well as more of his fabulous storytelling. Classes were then invited to purchase Steve Smallman books for their classes, which Steve kindly signed. Feedback from staff and students was really positive, and the young people hope to write a short story of their own to share with Steve over the coming weeks. A huge thank you to Steve for making this day so special, but also for our amazing young people who work so hard at showcasing their talents, and impeccable manners for our school visitors. In May we look forward to welcoming Sophie Cartmell to Bladon House, for our 2nd author visit of the year.
Today is Social Care Day of Remembrance & Reflection. It is 2 years since the start of the pandemic and when the UK went into Lockdown. Today is a day for us to pay tribute to all the people who work in social care, whether that be as a carer, maintenance, part of the domestic or catering team, or in a supporting admin role. Thank you.

Categories included Care Practitioner of the year, Domestic Champion to IT Champion, and nominations were open to all employees. Huge congratulations to all of the 2021 winners… Look out for nominations opening for the 2022 awards soon.

Congratulations to all of our colleagues at Aran Hall School. This is the summary from their recent CIW Inspection.
“Young people are happy, healthy and safe. They have a voice and, as far as practical, control in making decisions about their lives. They know and understand what care, support and opportunities are available to them. The leadership and management of the service is effective. Young people can be confident they receive quality care from a service that sets high standards for itself.” Read the report in full.
