Bladon Students Go Orange for Prader Willi Syndrome Awareness Month

Bladon House School has gone ORANGE to celebrate Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS) Awareness month and fundraise for the PWS Association. We started with the whole school assembly regarding PWS which included some personal views and experiences of some of our students with PWS at school. It was great to learn from them.  At the end of the assembly everyone practiced Makaton signs related to the Go Orange Day!

The whole school got involved in preparation for the main day – 26th May.

We organised the Bladon Treadmill Marathon Challenge for PWS on the day. A lot of students and staff took part in the marathon and we managed together to complete 26.2 miles on the treadmill!

Students took part in the art competition for the best PWS poster. They produced a lot of great work and put a lot of effort into their work. Our food tech department prepared orange jellies with oranges too! What a day!

The atmosphere at the school was amazing and everyone had a fantastic day. We have managed to raise just over £1673 for the PWS Association, which has far exceeded our expectations.

The challenge is completed and we will be back with a bigger challenge next year.

Thanks everyone, especially all of our students, staff and sponsors, for making this day amazing!
