Curriculum
Our teachers plan and deliver lessons in collaboration with our therapists and learning experiences extend beyond the classroom to ensure every student has the ability to realise their full potential.
The curriculum has been designed to support the academic and personal development of students. The promotion and development of students communication skills is at the heart of all plans.

Termly plans have a topic approach which teachers use to plan interesting activities that support the development of students’ knowledge and skills day to day. Topics include ‘healthy lifestyles’ and ‘festivals’.
Every student has an individual learning plan that clearly sets out how and when skills are taught. This is reviewed on a regular basis.
We have a purpose built school with six classrooms and a separate class for group learning, an ICT suite, sensory room, individual work spaces, library and kitchen.

Preparation for Adulthood
Work-related learning is an important part of the post 16 curriculum and promotes key skills in preparation for adulthood.
Students are supported to understand aspects of independent living, such a budgeting, the preparation of meals, visiting shops and cafes. They are also learn how to have a healthy lifestyle and take care of their personal hygiene.
Post 16 students also enjoy carefully planned work experience placements including a care home, working farm and classic car parts supplier. Students unable to complete a work placement with an external company join our onsite maintenance or kitchen teams.

Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning is offered to all students and is a fantastic opportunity for them to experience and learn in a woodland environment. The main ethos of outdoor learning is to foster learning through exploration and play, allowing students to learn new skills and to discover and learn from the outdoors themselves.
