Facilities

Aran Hall is located in Rhydymain, a small village in Gwynedd, North Wales. We are fortunate to have children’s homes and school on the same site; this has proved to be very beneficial with engaging our children and young people and improving attendance.

We have five homes, which all include private bedrooms for each child, comfortable, homely lounges and dining rooms and fully equipped kitchens – everything a home should have.

As part of our school site, we have four classrooms for daily sessions, in addition to a purpose-built Gardening classroom, an Expressive Arts room where we have specialist Art teaching and music sessions and a school library. There are comfortable spaces for therapy sessions too. In school, each pupil has their own desk with personalised learning board and access to a computer.

The school grounds enable pupils, staff and visitors to enjoy beautiful views across Snowdonia as well as the more localised grounds. Pupils participate in weekly sessions based on gardening and developing the surrounding terrain, as well as in work experience projects which provide opportunities for planning and designing additional facilities e.g. poly-tunnel, composting area and chicken run.

The quiet, countryside location of the school being only 5 and 10 miles from local towns Dolgellau and Bala gives Aran Hall the benefits of both privacy and community. We use the facilities in both local towns to support our children and young people in developing their social skills whilst appreciating the health benefits of local walks, the leisure centre and swimming pool. We also work closely with the local college, Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, and local business for further education and work-related experiences.
