Pegasus School in Derbyshire is a vibrant, ambitious and caring independent day and residential school that provides care and education for young people aged 11 – 19 with severe/complex communication and learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviours. The school is near Burton-on-Trent and has places for up to 24 students, including 52 week placements, and a small number of day students, all of whom are provided with individualised specialist support.
We are seeking to recruit a Deputy Head Teacher to oversee and develop teaching and learning delivery across the School. The post holder will actively support and improve the assessment, recording and reporting of learning processes and practice, they will support and mentor teachers, teaching assistants and care staff within the education environment and display best practice teaching approaches.
The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher, have extensive SEN experience, leadership ability demonstrated via previous TLR, Assistant Head or Deputy experience. In addition, they will have experience of the current SEN curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment issues and demonstrable successful experience of using effective strategies for raising achievement, gathering evidence and improving progress.
